Let's face it, to lose weight, get in shape and then stay that way, you have to include cardio into your workout routine.
You have to control your diet, lift weights, AND fit in your cardio. For most people 30 minutes to an hour at least 3 times per week is recommended.
The problem is cardio is boring, hard work! I mean, how much fun can you really have on a treadmill, stationary bike, or elliptical for an hour?!?
After years of being miserable and overweight, I finally found a solution that worked for me! You see, I love to read. I read just about anything and everything. The problem was finding time to read.
With a job, kids, chores, errands, who has time to read, right?
At some point I decided that I would try and read while doing my cardio. For me either the treadmill or the elliptical are my weapons of choice.
I figured I finally found the ultimate solution to get in my cardio and read at the same time!
WRONG!!
Do you realize how hard it is to hold a book in your hand while trying to walk or run on a treadmill?!? Am trust me on this one, the elliptical is no easier!
Basically that brilliant idea ended in almost immediate failure.
But, knowing that this was the best solution for me, I kept searching for a way to combine my reading time with my cardio time.
Why did that seem so important to me?
Well, for one it was obvious time savings. But the most important reason was if I could find a way to read while doing cardio, I WOULD ACTUALLY DO MY CARDIO LIKE I WAS SUPPOSED TO!
